A Lincoln contains not only luxury and high tech but also includes an advanced driver assistance suite of systems to make driving easier and safer. The system, known as Lincoln Co-Pilot360, uses a combination of cameras, sensors, and radar. Let’s take a closer look at these Lincoln safety features and how they work.

Lincoln Safety Features: Advanced Driving Assistance for Your Protection

Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking

Radar and cameras watch the road ahead. If they identify a vehicle in front of you, the system compares the vehicle’s speeds and can use this to determine if a collision is possible. The system provides visual and audible warnings of an impending collision, enabling you to react and brake or take evasive action.

If you can’t react quickly enough, the system automatically applies heavy braking to bring your vehicle to an almost instant stop. This action will either prevent an accident or reduce its severity if unavoidable.

Blind Spot Information System and Cross-Traffic Alert

This system solves the problem of blind spots by using sensors. Sensors are installed to monitor blind spots and identify any vehicle that enters their line of sight. The system sounds an alert, and a warning icon will appear on your screen so you can take action.

The rear sensors also scan for traffic when you reverse and will warn you if a vehicle is about to pass behind you. This allows you to swiftly brake and avoid an accident.

Auto High Beam Headlamps

When driving at night, you need as much light as possible to see the way ahead. High beams, however, can be distracting and dangerous for oncoming drivers. This feature uses sensors to identify oncoming headlights and automatically switches to low beams. Once the other vehicle has left the sensor’s field of vision, the lights revert to high beams.

The system also detects snow and fog and will switch to low beams to prevent reflections and allow you to see more clearly.

Lane-Keeping System

Accidentally straying across lane boundaries is easy, particularly at night. Unfortunately, this can result in an accident if another vehicle is traveling fast. A forward-positioned camera automatically detects the lane lines. The system provides audible and visual warnings if you cross into another lane without actively steering.

Once the warnings have sounded, the system provides extra torque to the steering wheel to enable you to easily turn back into your original lane.

Rear View Camera

Parallel parking has always been a dread for many drivers, but this system makes it easy. When you shift into reverse, a rear camera activates and displays the view directly behind you on your front screen. It also provides guidelines to enable you to reverse perfectly every time.
